Monoprinting is an exciting way to open up new ways of visual expression.
During this course, you will be taken through different drawing and mark making exercises, building up your own drawing language and looking to find a subject matter that captures your imagination.
You will be introduced to different monoprint techniques such as transfer, reductive, painted Monotype, multi plate printing and chine colle (collage).
We will be using both a hard perspex plate and a soft Gelli Plate for this work.
There will be discussions on materials and types of paper.
Towards the end of the course you will be instructed to create a series of drawings from which you will then choose which printmaking processes you wish to use, to create your prints.
By the end of the 5 weeks, you will have a series of printed images inspired by your drawings and a newfound confidence to continue pursuing monoprinting on you own.
The course will be run via Zoom and there will be an online image gallery where students can upload work that they have made each week.
If you miss any of the dates, a recording of the session will be sent to you.
I look forward to seeing you there!
