When we make creative work, we endow the space we are making it in, with a specific atmosphere.
Whether we are working from a makeshift studio in our bedroom, kitchen table or we are working from a space that is only reserved for art making, something happens to a space when we create from it. 

In this course, you will be using the room around you as starting point, from which to access memory, dream, story and imagination, to create images that have a life of their own. 

You will be guided in exercises that enable you to access layers of memory and to make marks that represent this. Each week there will be a different theme and exercise related to the room you are in. 

We will look at artists and writers who have used their creative spaces as inspiration for their work. 
You will be encouraged to work from both life and from imagination, to make images that are abstract and also figurative. 

During the final week, you will choose one of the ways of working from the previous four weeks, to create an image with subject mater that is significant for you. 

The course will be run on the platform zoom and there will also  be an online image gallery where students can upload work that they have made, each week. If you miss any of the dates, a recording of the session will be sent to you.
