MORE INFO
Do you have a creative practice or wish to begin one, but find that life and doubt gets in the way of allowing you to pursue it? Have you found that your wish to make work goes up and down and that once you stop, it’s very difficult to get going again? I have created the Creativity Cafe Membership for just this dilemma!
Creativity is mysterious and needs delicate holding and containers so that it can be expressed.
In my own life, I have found that two of the key things that have helped me to grow and expand as an artist have been community and accountability. A community of others also treading the creative path, so that we can support and encourage one another and accountability; a reason to make work, be that an exhibition deadline or someone else holding me accountable.
These two elements work like magic.
We need to feel that we are held in community somehow and not just creating in a void and often it helps if we have a reason to make the work.
The Creativity cafe Membership is a nurturing online space, where you are able to get to know others in the group and support one another on your journey.
During the monthly community and accountability session, we will share as a group how we have gotten on during the previous month. I will set coaching questions to help you to understand and expand on your own creative process and work through blocks. There will drawing warm-up exercises as well as time to make your own work and chat in small groups.
During our monthly art class, there will be a theme that we are all working on together. There will be live demonstrations of the suggested processes and a chance to share what you make in small group discussions at the end.
Each session, there is also a chance to chat to me individually in a breakout room if you are needing guidance or support with what you are working on and you also have the opportunity to be in contact and collaborate with other members.
You will find that even if you only make work during our sessions, your confidence will begin to grow and a creative practice will begin to flourish.
Once a year, you have the opportunity to participate in an online exhibition with everyone showing a few pieces of work made, which can then be shared with family and friends and other contacts. A great way to celebrate the work you have made!
The sessions will be run via Zoom and there will be an online platform where you can upload work that you make during the month.
Each member will also have their own padlet portfolio, where they can upload work they make, to share with others.
If you miss any of the dates, you will have access to recordings from the sessions.
If you would like to join from a different time zone, you can check out the time zone converter here:

I look forward to seeing you inside the Creativity Cafe membership once it opens in November 2023!
There is option to pay for the membership either yearly or monthly.

Testimonials
"Perienne is a very special, generous person and an attentive and insightful listener. She is also a wonderful artist. Perienne really engages with every individual and their work, helping them find and pursue their direction. In the Creativity Cafe she creates an atmosphere of shared practice. Much wisdom comes from the group as we are all there to be present, explore and grow. The break-out rooms with fellow participants give time for each to reflect on their work and the individual break-out rooms with Perienne have been really supportive. There isn't a pressure to perform and the session helps shine light on challenging moments too. Perienne transmits a self-belief and feeling of community amongst all. I feel very lucky to have spent time with her and other members of the Creativity Cafe."

'The Creativity Cafe gave me a nice feeling of being connected with my process even in times when I was not able to work that much. It was VERY inspiring to meet all these wonderful creative people and share the 'room' with them. Perienne is such a good teacher and coach.'
Tilde Carlsen, Denmark. tildeart.dk/webshop/malerier/
'I found the cafe amazing! It was like a sumptuous fairy tale cafe with teas and cakes from all over the world…..nourishing our creative spirits and our sense of community. A real coming together - albeit over a remote table - and savouring what it is to be sensitive and creative in this world, the challenges and road blocks as well as the glorious individual landscapes. Touching in at the well of knowing that the struggles and fears are common to us all, and being resourced by Perienne to navigate those fears with increased confidence that they are just fears, not to be taken too seriously, but to be heard. Perienne held the structure with such a containing strength and flexibility. She brought us in to our deepest selves through short meditations. From this meditative place we asked and answered questions of ourselves and of our creative dreams as if accessing and speaking directly through the heart, which would have been difficult or impossible without Perienne's guidance and holding of the space. It was such a moving process to see each other unfold in unexpected ways as we travelled together over the 5 month course. What a rich feast Perienne’s cafe table has to offer!' Ella, London
'From the bottom of my heart, thank you Perienne for guiding us on this journey and for creating such a safe and inspiring space for our art to emerge.' Petra Cotociu, Leamington Spa.
'After completing the Royal Drawing School’s Online Drawing Development Year I found myself a little shell shocked and confused about the way forward. I’d taken so much in and studied such a wide range of approaches to drawing that I knew I should take stock to work out exactly who I am as an artist.
I joined Perienne’s Creativity Café to give me a framework knowing that every month I needed to have something positive to show. This really worked for me, helped with procrastination and all those negative feelings I was used to, working alone in my bubble. All the sessions had a positive impact and I was able to use techniques introduced by Perienne that enabled me to put marks down on that blank page and take it from there. We were encouraged to be ourselves, listen to the artist inside of us and build confidence in ourselves and our work. I quickly began
expressing myself in a way that comes naturally.
The support from the group was heart warming and I feel that we all made progress in our work towards being our authentic selves.
I would recommend anyone to join the Creativity Café. It’s a supportive, safe environment in which to meet others, share ideas, work and concerns and Perienne is adept at bringing out the best in everyone, in their work and confidence in their practice.' Cynthia Harrison Orr, Artist, UK. https://cynthiaharrisonorr.com/
'Through Perienne, I discovered how well Zoom lessons can work for teaching you how to be a more conscious creative being. This happened during the first lock-down, spurring real excitement to sign up to a Creative-Café running through the spring of 2022. I was not disappointed! Perienne challenged and encouraged me while she always had something constructive to say. She masters the art of including everyone and yet seeing you as an individual and giving you time one-on-one.
She is patient and quietly enthusiastic, with a deep knowledge of art and how creativity works. One of her true gifts, is knowing how to slow everyone down at the beginning of a lesson, thereby making everyone tune into our individual and collective creativity.
I would highly recommend Perienne’s teaching in any form and space.' Gurli, London
'Such an exciting 5 months! I experienced a culmination of approaches from several of Perienne's courses, coupled with a re-awakening of my passion for textile art. In the Creative Cafe, and indeed all Perienne's courses, her openness and encouragement to individual ways of working is SO refreshing.
Working at my own pace, within the session and over the following month, I have built a confidence to follow my intuitive responses to each image and each section of texture, to allow my imagination to be prompted by the materials and shapes and colours, lying side by side, to realise they nod to each other as to which way they wish to be incorporated. There follows such surprise and satisfaction as the image comes together.
And the support from my fellow Cafe patrons was palpable; we all wanted us all to succeed. There were short chats about each of our work, how we are getting on (or not), about creative talks and articles we have been impressed by, and I found it particularly interesting how questions of another person's work leads to a breakthrough in my own! Each session opened my mind to new possibility.

'Dear Perienne, thank you so much for your time, attention and great skill as a facilitator and reflector during these weeks of the Creative Cafe. At first, I felt that I would not be able to be a 'good' group member as I am so preoccupied, and so tied down mentally, but I can report that the power of the group, and your talent for holding the group members in mind, has been very enriching.
I trained as a Psychotherapist and my own experience has been that it can be very difficult to put aside the role one has of being a listener, a reflector and a supporter for others in order to attend to creative work, but your approach and your teaching has changed that for me. As Amy said, work has become a friend, rather than a persecutor! We might not always have time for it, but it is waiting, and it is an enriching 'friendship' we can return to. You have given us a great deal and I really admire your capacity to offer so much to others, and remember to enrich yourself.
It has been a helpful experience to relate to a group of kind and generous artists and one I hope to continue.
It occurs to me, that the language used in the group is so very different from the art educational language I was given in the past.
I am making a connection to your evocation of the feminine, a reawakening of a potent otherness that needs to find a voice and a language in our world. To my mind, it is no surprise that in past times, so many women have felt depressed and unfulfilled. I'm ranting now! But your respect for your own feminine 'voice' is so helpful and encouraging. Thank you for starting the creativity cafe - It's brilliant!

'The Creativity Cafe is a wonderful opportunity to meet other creatives who are working out how to be an artist too. As a gifted artist and teacher herself, Perienne is wonderful at communicating and guiding you through uncertainty. She provides practical tips and a framework that inspires and helps you be accountable to yourself and others. These sessions act as a motivating force for any artist, visual or otherwise. I now have a ready-made artist community which I'm continuing to nurture.'
Zinta Jaunitis, London ( www.zintajaunitis.com )
'I really enjoyed the Creativity Cafe sessions, they were a lovely relaxed opportunity to meet other creatives and share our experiences. I found Perienne's approach empathic and a nice balance of exchanging ideas while also having time for our own work. I especially enjoyed the small group discussions, and the meditation and journaling. Perienne provided a structure to the sessions while still managing to keep them informal and friendly.
Having the monthly sessions gave me a goal to work towards in my creative practice which I found really helpful.' Rachel Sutherden, UK
'I enjoyed the experience immensely and liked all aspects, especially the group sharing when peers spoke about their practise and their struggles.
It is truly a space of shared experience and most importantly a space for genuine validation.
Beyond the sharing I enjoyed working alongside the group and having time decided to achieve some work.
That gentle pressure is always helpful and nurturing. Thank you Perienne for being so generous with having created the creativity cafe.' Oliver Luehr, Devon

This will be my talisman. A drawing from tonight to remind me to work and speak from heart and pelvis, from here all things root, branch, the river runs from source, inward and outward connections are created, fox fire ignited, animal spirit guides show up, from heart to pelvis my inner starlight is struck and lights my way. And I’ll remember it’s better when I don’t know where i’m going but trust that i’m going! Most authentic voice from lower mouth! IMMENSE THANKS Perienne for your generous, inspired and original teaching. You help me locate my way.' Katharine Roberts, Devon |
Love the way Perienne teaches! There is nothing like trusting someone to make you open up some kind of magical door to your own creativity. I could easily do this every week and would probably get addicted. Who knew it would be possible to learn this way and who knew just how much it affects the way you work otherwise. The meditation intro works wonders for me, every time. Will definitely look out for another course! Emma, UK
Perienne is an exceptional teacher - inspiring and sensitive to individual needs. She provides a magical space in which you can play with materials and ideas whilst being on hand to give support and advice as required. The 'Drawing & Collage' & 'Memory & Dream' courses that I took with her this year have been instrumental in helping me to create a personal art practice, where I can enjoy the process of creating for its own sake, but given form using ideas gleaned from coursework and the approach of fellow students. A real gift. Nicola, London: artist and interior designer.
Thank you so much for such an amazing experience - I enjoyed it so much and feel braver about my work and the process - it is so freeing to sketch with closed eyes - loved it! Philippa, Suffolk, UK
This is now my 4th course with Perienne as I seem to respond to her relaxed yet challenging teaching style particularly well.
This Drawing and Poetry has really reflected to me the advances I have made in my thinking (or lack thereof, even better!!) process over the last year.
My approach to each project through the filter of poetry has been like a ship in full sail, from a stubby dinghy chopping through the waves of techniques, to a wayfarer, rolling with the prompting breakers, to a serene schooner, slicing through whatever my mind swells into, with confidence.
Techniques, emotions and sense of worth have meld through surprises and satisfactions.
This was definitely a special course for me!
Thanks for being with me through this, for your enthusiastic guidance Perienne.

Greetings dear Perienne, I am reflecting on the last 5 weeks of class, and thinking of what I want to create with the many processes I have learned. I so love the freedom of monoprinting and the endless possibilities. Thank you , thank you for being such a great , generous and inspiring teacher.
I am now in touch with and friends with several people in the class . A gift as I’m quite ambivalent about the internet!' Phyllis, California

I so enjoyed this course and feel there are so many depths that I have been given to explore on my own.
I could repeat it 5 times and still come out wanting to learn more. Thank you for such a gift of a course. Emma, Suffolk UK

'Perienne’s approach is very inspiring to me both as a practicing artist and also a fellow art teacher. I was impressed by how she creates such a welcoming and conducive atmosphere online. I love how she manages to lead artists on their own journey into the unknown giving them useful prompts and nudges to trust the creative process and get producing images they wouldn't have imagined making before. I believe Perienne's classes would be of real value to artists of all levels of experience helping them carve out the space and time for the magic of image making and giving them new methods to add to their repertoire.' Elvira Rose Oddy, Artist, Wales, https://waldenarts.co.uk/about/
Perienne gently guides you to explore your imagination and creativity and to achieve surprising and pleasing results. She encourages you with poetry, meditation and the works of many contemporary artists. Her Zoom classes work very well as most people are in their creative space with all their materials at hand. Perienne is both inspiring and perceptive - an excellent tutor whom I highly recommend. LJ, artist, Suffolk
The courses that Perienne teaches have helped me to grow as an artist. The stories and techniques she teaches are unique and very inspiring. Even though I have already learned and experimented a lot before, the courses have enhanced my practice immensely. I freed myself more with drawing and printing without fear of failure. Most importantly, I have started to create on a regular basis again, it became easier for me, I got into a flow and will hopefully keep it! So inspiring! Especially in those times, it also has been a social source for me to connect to other artists around the world and made new friends. Very inspiring, thank you so much! Dear Perienne, I just wanted to say thank you very much for the course. You are very patient and brilliant at making an environment where mistakes don't exist. I"m having so much fun making new work and feel excited about where it may lead.' Amelia, Painter, London, UK
Perienne is an exceptional creative force and she is hugely generous and effective in sharing her extensive artistic knowledge, passion, and experience. She has an instinctive feel for what her students are trying to express and she is able to gently and clearly guide them towards a clarity of self expression. Perienne is also very professional and has the ability to really help the student plan and see the bigger picture in their creative journey. I have come to profoundly value her advice about my work and process.

I recently took part in Perienne’s course ‘Dreaming in to the Space Around You’.
It’s an excellent course and perfect for anyone who is looking to free up their drawing practice and enter a more imagined world, but using the studio/room you’re in as a starting point.
Clearly structured and using a different technique each week we all entered our own imaginative spaces using what we saw in front of us, artist images and prompts from Perienne as a stepping off point. There was also a great sense of the group with us all discussing how we got on and sharing our experiences, both with the whole group and also in short break out sessions in smaller groups. I can’t recommend it highly enough. Nick, artist and musician Bristol, UK

Perienne possesses a unique talent of being both an artist and a teacher. In this course you'll learn a variety of monoprinting techniques that will enrich your ability to make images. In each class Perienne strikes a wonderful balance of teaching, discussing (in a group and in 1-2-1s) and allowing you to experiment. And she beautifully guides you through uncertainty. Thank you!

'Perienne is a delightful teacher. Her suggestions were playful, encouraging and inspiring. She taught me to trust what I see.' - Oliver Parker, Director. (RDS course) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oliver_Parker
I found the course really helpful in developing how I work / look at things, and it definitely freed me up in a way, letting go of the result of a drawing or painting and just enjoying the process more, and seeing the work of the rest of the group change with my own. And I’ve started mining my dreams more for ideas. I got a lot out of those five sessions! Katie Vicary https://www.katievicary.com/
Hi Perienne, I just wanted to say how much I had enjoyed your memory and dream course. The structure was great, taking us from warmup drawings and prompts through to making a meaningful composition out of the work that we’d done together. The online course is surprisingly sociable and i enjoyed meeting everybody! Sue, Painter, Somerset, UK
Simply fantastic- stretching, intense and inspiring , I loved it, Thank you so much ! Anna, Suffolk UK
I have thoroughly enjoyed being taught by Perienne on one course run by the Royal Drawing School and on one she ran independently. Perienne taught me creative techniques and offered an ideal setting to help me develop as an artist. I have especially appreciated the quality of attention and thoughtfulness she brings to her teaching.

Perienne is an exceptionally gifted teacher and artist, and she was generous and skilled in encouraging and supporting us to take imaginative leaps and bounds in ways that felt manageable and safe and at the same time very exciting.
She lead the course with an incredible combination of structure, technical insight and clear, accessible instruction in ways it made it really easy for us to pick up new materials and methods with confidence and ease.
She was also full of intuition, and strengthened and supported a heartfelt, intuitive approach to the creative projects we had. She introduced sessions with creative exercises and ended with a coming together appreciation of each others work and endeavours. In effect she made a creative community of strangers with warmth, imagination and containment. I loved the way we trampolined off into our own work each session from the base of looking at the work of other artists.
For me, this strengthened the sense of a creative community beyond the immediate group. Perienne is an inspirational teacher!

This is the second course of Perienne’s that I have taken. I love the way that you can start as a complete novice or with some experience and still learn new techniques that give you the confidence to create unique pieces of work. Perienne is a fabulous knowledgable teacher and the online format works really well. Jean, Lincolnshire, UK
What made the course so special for me was Perienne's calming teaching method that took all the anxiety out of creating artwork and wanting it to be 'good'. She helped me relax into creating the work by enjoying the process and seeing where that took me. Thank you Perienne! Lydia, Designer & illustrator https://lydiafee.co.uk/
Many thanks Perienne for the live online Drawing and Collage course which I found both very enjoyable and inspirational.
I was apprehensive at the start as I couldn’t imagine how a live practical art class would work over Zoom but my concerns were completely unfounded. The sessions were fun and I learnt a lot about technique and composition. It was good to be able to interact with you and with the other participants. Using a Padlet to share our work was a real bonus. I have already signed up to another course and am looking forward to working on Memory and Dream. Jane Warwickshire, UK

I thoroughly enjoyed Perienne's Drawing and Collage 5 week course. Incorporating collage in my drawings made them more dynamic and interesting. It also made me think differently about how to begin an art work.
Perienne's prompts were great and I even had a breakthrough towards the end of the course.
I strongly recommend this course for anyone who wants to experiment with their drawing process. Seemab, Film maker, London, UK https://www.seemabgul.co.uk/

“I loved this course. As well as being intensely fun, I learnt so much in my use of materials and my approach to being experimental and non-judgemental of my work. Conceptually, on the first evening, I learnt the importance of instilling a sense of space into the picture to gain the credibility of one’s audience which gives permission to push mental and imaginative boundaries more deeply. I learnt so much from witnessing the process of my fellow group members too. Perienne’s open, supportive and understanding approach to her tight and disciplined course gives great encouragement.
In summary, I found this course to be very inspiring. Looking forward to the next one! "

I thoroughly enjoyed the course. I looked forward to the zoom classes and found them thoughtfully put together - Each week's set of ideas inspired and challenged me to continue exploring the week's theme and/or suggested materials during the following days. .
I also enjoyed “meeting” the other participants in small groups at the end of each class to compare notes/ our drawings.
I enrolled for this course hoping it would kick start me into drawing and using a sketch book instead of relying on my camera or mobile phone and now I have no more excuses!

'I had done Monoprinting before but I like to see learn fresh ways and was not disappointed!!
Perienne gave us lots of techniques to try in the first sessions then gave us the space to practice with loads of patient encouragement. Then, in the last session, there was the opportunity to pull them all together.
I liked the format of 5 evenings, giving us time to practice what we had learnt. The way the course is presented, this is as much for beginners. It was a time to play, discover new designs I would never have thought of, make series rapidly or single overprints with slow deliberation, but never anticipate the results... The happy surprises are endless!' Annie, Artist, Uk

‘I attended Perienne’s online Drawing and Collage course very much a novice. I was a bit apprehensive thinking that everyone would be so much better than me. My mind was soon put at rest with the pre course information and videos we received via the padlet.
The sessions were well organised, friendly, but mainly fun. Perienne has a very nice manner and explained everything clearly. You always had the opportunity to ask questions without feeling intimidated. It was great to network with a group of likeminded people of all abilities and look at their work too.
In the end I was proud of the work I produced and feel that the course has given me a springboard to become more creative in my work.
A great course for people of all abilities! I highly recommend it!’ Jean, Lincolnshire, UK

I really loved the course and felt it gave me a new way of approaching image making which I can already see helping a couple of blocks I had around my practice such as adding detail and colour in the same image or using more spontaneous mark making. I see endless possibilities and experiments in the processes we learned. I felt as if I learned much working along with Perienne and the other students and the resources and videos were great to go back to. George, Artist
I had been looking forward to doing Drawing and Collage for 6 months, ever since I discovered it, and was in no way disappointed with my wait! The process was immersive and tapped into a deeper part of me.
Taking inspiration from a wide variety of artists I would never normally have looked at, and layering tissue colours for depth effects, I expanding my responses to unusual themes and prompts that appeared out of my own random marks. It was both free-ing and invigorating. The surprises prompted new directions, so image making became lively and almost soul-centred. I even burst into poetry!
Thanks, Perienne, for a brilliantly designed experience. Annie, artist, Nottingham, UK

I really want to thank you so much for all you have given over the past year. I have heard so many people rightly appreciate your teaching qualities on the various courses I have attended. For me, the mentoring has really given me the confidence to complete work and to begin to think of how I can connect with the world through it. Joanna Macey has a lovely phrase “ believing mirror”. You have been a very clear, present, authentic and gifted door opener, a believing mirror - but also a window opener, showing me the view. Your own belief in your work and imagination (or so it seems from the outside) and the power of your work, which seems to me to have a spiritual and visionary strength to it, alongside its beauty, also charges the quietness of your voice and the sensitivity of how you see and what you say. I hear it all seeing your work behind you. I just wanted to name how much of a difference it has made to me and to my working practice. I am very grateful. Thank you! Alana, artist, London
'I first met Perienne at the Royal Drawing School, where she was one of my tutors during a ten week intensive. My sessions with her were the most memorable - I remember at the end of those long days smiling as I rolled up my drawings, images that were unexpected yet connected to my own imagination and voice. Like a memory I had forgotten. Her advice always seemed to resonate, because it was less prescriptive and more supportive, encouraging me to trust my instincts.
She gave me permission to experiment, to fail and most importantly to celebrate my successes without codifying them into a recipe.
The intensive made me realise art-making was very important to me, and so when it was over I tried to keep up a studio practice back home in the US. But after a couple of months I realised I was going in circles, failing to recreate that imaginative, productive space. I contacted Perienne for help, not really sure what it was I looking for.
That was four months ago, since then we've chatted each week via Skype.
Despite our geographical distance, these virtual conversations feel very real, as if she's visiting my studio each week to take a look at what I've been up to. Having another person that is engaged with what I'm doing, asking questions, making suggestions has helped me stay accountable, set short-term goals, be patient and persistent. I feel like I'm finally making the transition towards more personal, independent work, finding my own themes and ways of working. She's helped me establish a deeper studio practice.'

"I'm quite new to making art so wanted to explore it with a supportive teacher. Perienne was wonderful, very encouraging and warm and gave me skills and confidence in what I was doing. She made it a very positive and creative journey. I'm really chuffed with what I've produced on Perienne's course and with how much I've learnt. I'm excited to keep going" Pippa, Musician, London, UK
'I’ve just finished the Memory and Dream 5 week online course with Perienne. I was taking the course from Budapest, so the fact it was online was essential for me. The structure of the course was clear and interesting, but I felt I was also able to follow my own path and be spontaneous in what I was doing at an individual. The results I really enjoy because they surprise me. I think that Padlet is a really great way of sharing our work, it’s good to see others, and to feel like my work is good enough to be a part of this online collection.' Eira, Art Student, Budapest
The Dreaming into your Space course was the fourth one I’d done with Perienne via Zoom. I’ve so enjoyed all the courses and this one in particular.
As always you start out thinking that you can see where the tuition and creative process is taking you but somehow you enter another realm of creativity which in my case is totally unexpected!
Perienne is a wonderful facilitator, her style of guidance, encouragement and course content takes you on a journey into your imagination. For me it’s so freeing and helps me to release pre conceived expectations of my ability.
The Zoom classes are great, to meet and chat with others is good fun and creates a wonderful sharing experience. I love seeing the Padlet gallery, such inspirational work.
Thank you again Perienne, I’m sure I’ll be signing up for another course soon! Alison, suffolk UK

'Not a one-time-and-everything-is-learnt type of course, this is an immersive experience in a quietly expansive environment. Thoughtfully designed, Perienne dropped just enough information into each session to forward our confidence in the process. With emphasis on intuitive responses to images, we ended up taking images from earlier works to assemble into a balanced, harmonious whole, something far outstretching anything I had done before. It's exactly what I needed to be doing at this time.
I really would like to go through Memory and Dream again!! I'm sure I would have different responses...and that to me is very exciting...' Laura, artist, UK

Thank you yet again for another wonderful course. I really enjoyed discovering the concept of collage and look forward to using it more and more in my art work. I’m quite excited about continuing the piece I started in session 5, I feel quite inspired.
As always the format, course content, support and guidance was brilliant.
The discussion at the start of each session together with looking at artists images offers inspiration and a starting point.
I love that we are able to weave our work into the following week and build on our awareness and development.
The demonstration videos are a very useful tool to revisit during the course and the Padlet where we show our work is a source of constant inspiration! Meeting such lovely people on Zoom is great and the break our room facility is a really good way to interact personally with our fellow students. Ali, retired nurse, Suffolk, UK

"I had never taken a formal art class before, but over my 20 years doing in informal education with adults I've incorporated lots of creative techniques to challenge people's assumptions and self-limiting beliefs and inspire personal growth and social change. I chose Perienne's course from all the other listings at the Kensington Palace, the Royal Drawing School, because her tutor bio reported that she had previously worked at the community arts centre in my neighbourhood and the topic of 'life-drawing a story' attracted me. I hoped to personally grow and learn something about drawing. And I did. Perienne is an intuitive and discerning teacher. She identifies a strength or style to a student's work and invites them on a journey of self-education and further discovery by suggesting artists, styles or periods to learn more about. She is accessible, knowledgeable and generously shares what she knows. And her own art work resonates with me. "

“We paired up with Perienne to launch I’ll Give You the Sun, one of our big teen YA reads of the year. From the moment we met, there was an instant spark – Perienne completely understood the essential threads of art and creativity bubbling alongside the characters and helped us bring the book to life through a series of narrative life drawings events. Participants thoroughly enjoyed learning to sketch, use different materials and explore an array of techniques. Highly recommend.'

I have just completed Perienne Christian’s wonderful Drawing and Collage course online and discovered a completely new way of working, which has enabled me to put an image together, creating a narrative or picture. I have always had a problem of where to begin or ideas have not come easy.
But thanks to Perienne I have learnt that combing multiple elements i.e. layering of paper or placing of pre drawn cut outs etc together with painting/drawing, enabled me to work in an intuitive way !! Somehow the ideas appeared before my eyes and an image grew and developed instinctively…….... Magical !!!
