Written version of the exercise
Congratulations! You have just connected or reconnected with your creative life force energy. It really can be this simple. And the reminder that it is always there for you. You can return to this exercise anytime you wish, to help you to remember.
- Grab some paper - any paper will do and something to make marks with. Pen, or pencil, it doesn't matter.
- Close your eyes and take some deep belly breaths. Relax your shoulders and jaw. Soften your body.
- Keep your eyes closed, but grab your pen or pencil.
- With your eyes closed, begin to move your pencil on the paper as you think about your creative work. As you make marks and with eyes still closed, ask yourself these questions: 'What is the work that wants to be made? And what does it want to tell me? Allow yourself to move your pencil and make marks with your eyes closed for as long as you wish, as you contemplate these questions. Allow yourself to be surprised by what comes through.
- When you open them, look at the marks you made and make a note of anything that came to you, so you can come back to it. You can also work more into it with eyes open if you wish.
Congratulations! You have just connected or reconnected with your creative life force energy. It really can be this simple. And the reminder that it is always there for you. You can return to this exercise anytime you wish, to help you to remember.

This is the sort of thing we do together regularly in my Creativity Cafe Membership; alongside journalling and somatic sensing exercises to support the act of creating.
Many members have reported how being part of the Cafe has helped them to shift out of fear and given a sense of rhythm and support to their creative journey. They have made work they might not have made otherwise and find that doing it with the group, in community, has been just what they needed.
